Normal Programs with IGRINS Korean Guaranteed Time
A limited amount of nights (on average of 2~4 nights per trimester) from IGRINS Korean Guaranteed Time will be open to Korean community for normal programs. During the early operation of IGRINS (2014-2015), however, most of the GT time will be focused on selected legacy programs. Therefore, nights available for GT normal programs in the early operation stage may be even less than expected.
We are considering an option to issue a call for proposal on an annual basis, although the decision has not been made. Meanwhile, we solicit proposals for GT normal programs in trimester base.
If you have targets that requires GT status (e.g., timely observation is critical), we encourage you to contact IGRINS operation team at KASI as soon as possible.
For GT normal programs, the proposal must be submitted to Korean IGRINS team using our own submission page at http://kgmt-igrins-proposals.appspot.com by the above deadline to be considered as a GT program.
Although there is no limit on the topics of GT programs, we may prioritize programs requiring timely observations and/or pilot programs whose feasibility is yet to be evaluated.
The GT selection results will be notified within one week of the GT deadline. Given the limited availability of nights, we may not be able to award GT nights. In that case, we encourage you to apply for McDonald Open Time.
There are programs selected as IGRINS legacy programs. The abstracts and source lists of these programs are available here . The targets observed as a part of the legacy program will be open to public without any proprietary period. Therefore, we encourage you to check the source catalog and prevent duplication if possible.
Eligibility: Principle investigator of a proposed program must be a Korean citizen or a resident in Korea who is officially affiliated with a Korean research institution or university.
IGRINS is an open PI instrument. Anyone may apply but a member or members of the IGRINS team must be on each proposal.
The IGRINS Newsletters contains more information on the IGRINS policy (Newsletters; Newsletter for 2016T1 will be published soon).
